Salsa got to Jasmin first. One crowded class, one song with a stubborn conga pattern, and she has never since been able to hear a drum without her shoulders joining in. Put her in a hotel bar with any kind of music and within a song or two she has found the beat, and quite often a new friend at the next table. She dances the way some people tell jokes, with timing, nerve and a wink at the end.
Petite at 160 cm and just 22, she wears her chestnut brown hair long and straight, and her brown eyes sparkle whenever she is plotting something, which is often. Flirtatious in the lightest possible way, bubbly without ever being loud, she dresses in playful boutique-hotel chic, outfits equally at home on a red velvet armchair and on a rooftop terrace above the IJ. Her energy is infectious rather than exhausting, and she reads a room quickly enough to know when to turn it down.
Her second passion lives behind the bar. Mixology fascinates her, and she will explain why a proper Negroni wants one large cube and a patient stir, then argue cheerfully with the bartender about orange peel. Perfume is the third act. Lean close enough to say hello and she will guess the heart notes of your cologne, name the one doing the heavy lifting and tell you whether it suits the evening. Curious about everything, she skips from subject to subject like a dancer changing partners, and somehow never loses the thread.
Jasmin lives in Amsterdam Centrum, a few lanes from the Oude Kerk, whose bells ring out over the glow of the oldest quarter in the city. The cocktail talk continues beautifully with Michelle, and anyone intrigued by scent should meet Sonya, a serious collector of fragrances. When the cafés around the Nieuwmarkt start calling last orders, Jasmin is usually just warming up.
