02 / Her story
Milena, in her own light
Noted by the house
- 175 cm, curvy
- Long straight black hair, brown eyes
- Tennis and ceramics
- Espresso connoisseur
- Direct and glamorous, English speaking
On a tennis court Milena is fierce, direct and completely unwilling to give away a point. At a potter's wheel she becomes someone else entirely: patient, silent, content to spend an hour coaxing a single bowl into shape and starting again when the rim wobbles. Both women come to your hotel, and the pleasure of an evening with her lies in never quite knowing which of them will answer your next question.
She is 25, stands 175 cm with a curvy figure, and wears her long black hair sleek and straight, like a statement she has no intention of explaining. Her brown eyes do not look away. Glamour, for Milena, is high-shine and editorial: gloss, black lace, a flash of neon, the feel of a magazine cover shot at midnight with the city glowing somewhere behind the lens. Direct in conversation, she says what she means and means what she says, and most guests find that remarkably refreshing after a week of polite meetings.
Espresso culture is her daily ritual. She holds firm views on single origins, roasting dates and the correct temperature of a cup, and none whatsoever on decaf, which she simply declines to discuss. Ceramics is her slow counterbalance, tennis the place where the competitive streak is let out to play. Somewhere between the two lies the real Milena, glamorous and grounded at once, and every bit as interested in your opinions as she is in defending her own.
She makes her home in the Jordaan, among the cafés and galleries of the Westerstraat, a brief ride from the lantern-lit lanes where the old city keeps its reputation. Angelika is the rival she would choose for a rematch, and Lucy is the gentler soul to share an espresso with, though Milena will insist on choosing the café.
